Okay,
As we all know, today is deepavali. yay. :]
How nice, my mum's loyal indian customer invited us over to his house for a great deepavali feast. The experience was pretty cool and well, exciting. I was kinda apprehensive at first, you know since its my 1st ever invitation by an indian to celebrate deepavali together, but their friendliness and hospitality was really re-assuring, to say the least.
I learnt that they use rock sand with ready-made colouring to form some symbol at the doorstep, along with some candles laid about 8cm away from each other in a straight line. I think the purpose is to chase away demons and ghosts and mice.
There was so much on the dining table to choose from, but i only attacked the poor curry chicken. lol. then i dont know how but my mum's indian customer suddenly changed the subject from my job application at raffles hospital for 2wks to mutton bone marrow. he says its his favourite part of the mutton and all his 3 sons love it.
He asked me if i wanted to try. At that moment, i think his wife sensed his excitement and gave me this very very very encouraging look. okay so i said yes.
The mutton and the bone
The bone marrow
I think its dam gross la. but the indians were treating it as some sort of main event, its like 5 of them started crowding around me the moment they heard i was going to try bone marrow for the first (and hopefully last =] ) time. so yah i was under quite a lot of pressure to eat that thing. but surprisingly enough, the bone marrow was so soft and slippery it just slipped right down my throat. i didn need to use my teeth. its a good thing i guess.
also earlier in the morning, i went out with two other p6 classmates to watch hsm3 at lido. nice songs. i think 'rocketman's funny. haha. yep. so thats how i celebrated deepavali this afternoon. pretty memorable. :]
working tml at raffles hospital. 8am to 6:15pm. $15 a day. ok i need this money.
