Singapore selections v.s. Brazil Olympic Team: 0-3!! Saw Ronaldinho, Diego, Anderson, Lucas, Pato and more more more. Yay!
Sorry forgive me for being so disloyal to my country, dont get me wrong i love n adore Singapore for its good food, weather etc. etc, but uh this is Brazil we're talking about here- can you tell me how often do u get to see Brazil play a match in your very own National Stadium? U can chop off 9 of your fingers and still have enough remaining to tell me and everyone else the correct answer.
So yeah, u guessed it, I watched the match, live, at National Stadium. Me mum actually managed to get hold of 2 of the $15 tix for me and my brother. O yeah. Then she got 2 more tickets for my father and his friend. That's (60+60+15+15) 140 bucks! Hm. We must repay her someday.
As the 4 of us finally made our way to the top, brushing past hundreds of people in the process, i took a deep breath and felt simply ecstatic to be able to catch the brazillian soccer superstars with their breathtaking tricks and flicks and the hopeful but very very anxious singapore team in 90 mins of entertainment. And in no way did the match disappoint!
The first half Brazil were stroking the ball around like nobody's business and were amazingly, fantastically bravo. With incredible awareness, a backheel from Ronaldinho set up Diego perfectly and without hesitation, he whacked it out of reach of helpless Singapore custodian Lionel Lewis.
Then, to Singapore's frustration, after Ronaldinho controlled the ball with his foot, put it across the line. Lewis did a good initial save to parry, i think Pato's effort which then landed nicely for Brazil's no.10 to put Brazil 2 up. Vry funny we all laughed.
Half time came, players were subbed on both sides, the reserves warmed up on the pitch and my mouth was dry, very dry.
Applause for Singapore here. They really took the match to Brazil in the 2nd half. They roared into life and forced Brazil keeper to make some really important saves. Hassan Sunny came on Lewis and also equally impresses, and was about 7 mins away from keeping a clean sheet when substitute Jo scored. Daniel Bennett and maybe Fahrudin and Wilkinson did more than enough to make Singapore proud. But not that Khairul Amri. He kept missing.
And just when it was about to end, a Brazilian defender got sent off. Alright! Drama mama sia. My father's friend said that the referee officiating the match was one of the most 'kelong' in singapore. I think i agree.
We, the fans, applauded every move. We, the fans loved every bit of it. Yeah come back soon people. And bring Kaka along with you next time. Lol =]
