Singapore selections v.s. Brazil Olympic Team: 0-3!! Saw Ronaldinho, Diego, Anderson, Lucas, Pato and more more more. Yay!

Sorry forgive me for being so disloyal to my country, dont get me wrong i love n adore Singapore for its good food, weather etc. etc, but uh this is Brazil we're talking about here- can you tell me how often do u get to see Brazil play a match in your very own National Stadium? U can chop off 9 of your fingers and still have enough remaining to tell me and everyone else the correct answer.

So yeah, u guessed it, I watched the match, live, at National Stadium. Me mum actually managed to get hold of 2 of the $15 tix for me and my brother. O yeah. Then she got 2 more tickets for my father and his friend. That's (60+60+15+15) 140 bucks! Hm. We must repay her someday.

As the 4 of us finally made our way to the top, brushing past hundreds of people in the process, i took a deep breath and felt simply ecstatic to be able to catch the brazillian soccer superstars with their breathtaking tricks and flicks and the hopeful but very very anxious singapore team in 90 mins of entertainment. And in no way did the match disappoint!

The first half Brazil were stroking the ball around like nobody's business and were amazingly, fantastically bravo. With incredible awareness, a backheel from Ronaldinho set up Diego perfectly and without hesitation, he whacked it out of reach of helpless Singapore custodian Lionel Lewis.

Then, to Singapore's frustration, after Ronaldinho controlled the ball with his foot, put it across the line. Lewis did a good initial save to parry, i think Pato's effort which then landed nicely for Brazil's no.10 to put Brazil 2 up. Vry funny we all laughed.

Half time came, players were subbed on both sides, the reserves warmed up on the pitch and my mouth was dry, very dry.

Applause for Singapore here. They really took the match to Brazil in the 2nd half. They roared into life and forced Brazil keeper to make some really important saves. Hassan Sunny came on Lewis and also equally impresses, and was about 7 mins away from keeping a clean sheet when substitute Jo scored. Daniel Bennett and maybe Fahrudin and Wilkinson did more than enough to make Singapore proud. But not that Khairul Amri. He kept missing.

And just when it was about to end, a Brazilian defender got sent off. Alright! Drama mama sia. My father's friend said that the referee officiating the match was one of the most 'kelong' in singapore. I think i agree.

We, the fans, applauded every move. We, the fans loved every bit of it. Yeah come back soon people. And bring Kaka along with you next time. Lol =]

Janan said, earlier, in a prayer,' If it is your will, God, then we will get what we desire.'

Its okay, guys. I know it hurts real bad, to know that despite all the practices, the countless sectionals, the weekly tutorials, the trials and tribulations, the highs the lows the ups the downs, the laughs we shared, the new friendships made, despite coming so far, being the only sec school band in the division, against all odds, we've come up short at the final hurdle. You must agree, 2nd place is definitely more than what we expected to achieve a couple of days ago.

Its alright. Its still an amazing 4k for the band. And for acjc as well. A nice good dinner at the kopitiam is just as rewarding. Come on, let's pull ourselves together, let's pick ourselves up and move on, let's strive to give dr lee a good farewell concert, let's make him proud to be our conductor, before he moves on, to greener pastures.

,10:20 PM

I still remember what our dear c maths teach mr keith tan said, to our dear classmate Sai Anand:

Sai was busy chatting away to uh no one in particular with that china-shattering, high-pitched voice of his, and most likely, during that brief period of time, annoying the daylights out of mr tan.

So, he turned to look at him.

'You see my fist? (raises a fist) 'That's the size of your brain.' He goes on to raise his left hand, some distance apart from his right hand, as if holding an invisible soccer ball.
He says, 'You see my two fists?'

'That's the size of your mouth.' Haha.

Anyway yesterday we met mr tharman shanmugaratnam (omg is this correct?) at this financial literacy event called 'Dollar$ and $en$e' at the frontier. Lots of old people were there, but something tells me they came because they heard about the free lunch, not because they were interested in learning more on money planning. Met brandon and some china dude at the boon lay mrt station before making our way there.

I caught some nice-looking bottles on display so i played the game and had to answer a question to win the bottle. Expecting something really really hard, i scratched my head in anxiety, then they flipped the card and read out, 'How many pencils can u buy with 20cents, if a pencil costs 5cents each?'

.___________. nothing to say. except that i got what i wanted. =]

Onwards people! May the trophy be ours. We can DO THIS!

Thursday, July 24, 2008,5:34 PM

Hey all. We had a new classmate on monday. This classmate of ours doesn't speak english, or any language familiar to the human ear and as a result, asking for 'his' name was harder than expected. So we assumed that the newcomer was a 'he', after all acs is a boys school and the deep growls and barks he made and failure to make proper conversation resulting in more deep barks and growls made us pretty certain he was the male of his kind. Quite unexpected really, neither we nor our teachers were expecting him. Oh. And this is what he did to everyone who came too close.

Rahhh!

Hahahaha. Including the chem teacher, but instead of screaming, ms chua smiled. Hmm funny funny weird weird.

Thursday was SIBF. I'll get straight to the point. We got GOLD! Oh joy!

As Jasper would aptly put it, 'Nicee one!' Yeah we are through to the finals, along with 3 other bands, Maris Stella Alumni Band, some Hong Kong Tom Lee Band and some Thai Band i think, who got a silver each. Justin was saying that we have to win it now that we've come so far and so close. Our final showcase will be at Esplanade, and i shall not miss any more notes. :]

Acjc, on the other hand, finished 5th or 6th and just missed out on the top 4 slots. We prepared the exact same song as acjc did for the final piece and jia ying played the 'sakura' part so much better than i did, but we were the ones who advanced to the next round. Were we that good? Huh really ah? Gold leh. We were still asking each other the same question on the ride back at home. That was like at 11:15! So late late late. Then we were not given 'a day off' at school to our dismay. So here i am, giving myself a good, well-deserved break. Hehe.

Okay i better be off to school now. ~~

It was a fun day today. Hardly any work done. Sold some tickets with milton, joel and ah phat/fart (ben thio), and claimed some cas hours in the process. o yeah. then we had a kickabout at the astroturf. This 6 yr old malay kid scored 5 against me. Then amos tan rolled 2 more in. And count in those 5 shots that were conceded earlier in a penalty shootout, and we have 12. Tio own sia.

In the evening, after a scrumptious lunch, =P

I made my way to singapore conference hall to watch symphony mg08. Dumbells choir was funky. I vow to find out how dumbells produce such melodious tunes and how to play them. And at the end of the concert, i saw amos tan AGAIN. and prateesh and hisyam and shaun ng and victor yaooooooo.

okie. :]

When u hold a gift in your hand, will u treasure it with all your heart? Or will it simply capture 5 mins of your attention before being thrown aside, neglected and forgotten?

Dr Lee is back. (with a vengeance?)

Today was BOB day. Nono it isnt the day where everyone starts running around in a big yellow helmet and suspenders and starts chanting bob the builder bob the builder until their throats run dry. Lol. Its the Battle of the Bands! And i srsly regret not going! Ended up sleeping like a gigantic walrus when i could have spent my time enjoying a great concert that comes only once a year. To rub more salt in, there were a couple of people there that i have not seen in ages and missed the chance to catch up on things. Why did i choose to leave school today, or yesterday, depending on how the heading of this post decides to set itself. U know, im gonna KILL myself. =]

Okay ive nothing much to post about today. Yeah. Shall end here.

Thursday, July 17, 2008,9:17 AM

We're survivors
We made it through the storm
When i needed shelter
I found it in your arms.

FOA is round the corner. Omg. Everyone, or so i think, is bucking up and really focusing during sectionals. I mean, come on, if even people like louis (er my own junior) is showing signs of improvement, everyone should have no problem playing the pieces yes? He can finally string like 4 crotchet notes above middle c neatly together without any cracking or squeaky sounds. Woohoo. My hard work =], nah jk.

SIBF too. Stands for Singapore Band International Festival. We're supposedly going in as the underdogs, fighting against players at least 3 yrs older than us, which isnt going to be easy, but but we'll give it our all i'm sure we will. there's a cash reward of something something i'm not sure exactly, if im not wrong i think its about $4000. $$$ yeah GOLD. $$$

YOU. You Chinese pro, can u please come forth!

I need u to check my o- level listening compre answers. And i better hear a 20/20 coming from you cos, I cant afford to lose any more marks here man, after breaking the world record for the number of stammers in a 6 min conversation for the o- level oral. Haha it had to be me. If i had a choice, I wouldn't want this kind of fame. Lol.

Today's a ___ day. (I can't think of an adjective?)

1) I lugged my 10,000 kilo laptop to school today as mr keith tan wanted us with our laptops at the ready during his lesson, but then there was o-level lc so his lesson was cancelled. Oww.

2) Beaurhys threw one of my test tubes three storeys down, luckily it was during curriculum time so no poor dude got hit. Okayokay it wasnt mine in the first place but still. I grabbed 3 from the chem lab after chem lesson, gave one to rajat. Sigh. One left. =(

and that one just went missing.

3) Beaurhys grabbed Ben's spoon and dunked a wallop of rice in to my chin choow. Omg it was dam disgusting la, the rice was floating everywhere. Like u drink 1 piece of jelly, 3 grains of rice follows it up the straw. Oh yucks. But after controlling his laughter, he pulled out 60cents and told me to get another cup of chin chow for myself.

4) I had the chance to run off with a free $3 chicken fried rice meal today, the aunty at the indian stall forgot to collect the cash so I walked away with the steaming hot dish in hand, feeling all funny inside. So after my meal, I returned to the stall and handed her the $3. =O

5) I fell asleep in the library trying to make some progress in my chem coursework. Then i had to be woken up by the library volunteers and with a quick glance around the room, I realised I was the last one and the only light shining, was coming from the sun. Ahh dam paiseh.

Yeah. Okay now gotta make some real progress on chem coursework, starting from the cover page. o wells. Byebyeee.

p.S. i want ans to o-level lc k!

Hahaha. Gotcha.

Thanks jingen. Last night i heard the exact same song on a spanish salsa cd. And discovered that...

The argentinians speak spanish! ><

Nothing much to post about, i think i might be losing my a post a day attitude, but still, i'll post whenever im not thinking of food. Yumyum. Oh don't even get me started on Mogumogu =]

Joel whipped out a fine sexy little thing called the alto recorder yesterday, and Merrill and i were honoured to be one of the first to set our sights on it. Im going to get myself one too. I asked the price, he told me it costs $45. Hah. Compare it to the recorder i got in Japan. And it was a coloured recorder, not those ordinary bland beigey ones. It was around 390 yen. Thats like $3 something in sing bucks. Cheap yea, but im sure there are cheaper recorders around here, somewhere. Okay, i've arrived at a conclusion. Yamaha overprice their goods. Bad Yamaha.

I was just flipping and toying with the dictionary the other day in search of the longest word in the universe. Saw some cool words like:

1) Razzmatazz!

At first sight, it appears as if its a type of dance. Okay la i dont know about you, but thats what i thought it was. Its actually 'showiness, glamorous or extravagant show.' Heh. Quite close right.

2) Lepidopterology!

Omg. Took me two attempts to write it correctly, even with the dictionary by my side. I must be dyslexic (is that how u spell it?) or something. Anyway, quite incredibly, it is the study of butterflies and moths. I gave up long long ago trying to think of something smart.

3) Indian corn.

Corn made from India! was the first thing that came to mind. But once again, its not right. Its maize. Indian corn is maize. Hmmmm. Tricky.

(yawns) Rightey. The search for the longest word will go on. For now, im tossing the dictionary aside.

Bye. Off to do some chemistry (oh crap)

Friday, July 11, 2008,8:45 AM

Volare oh oh! Cantare oh oh oh. Nel blu dipinto di blu. Felice di stare lessu!

Oh its in argentinian btw. A group of guys representing argentina in my school performed a song in argentinian for their parade of nations item. I was definitely not surprised that they won the whole thing. I mean, come on, they were the outright winners. In my humble opinion, i feel that no other country offered a real challenge, although i particularly enjoyed USA's Spelling Bee Competition too. 'Im in the zone man!' says Billy Clin-Tong (steals a move off teenage popstar Hannah Montana, does the hand wavy thing.)

Okay now im gonna play some catchup and update everyone on what has happened over the past few days. We had this IP symposium on the United Model Nations Conference from Friday all the way to Friday. A week. Excluding the weekends and youth day of course. Before this, we were all grouped into committees and countries. I got the environmental committee and Tajikistan. And omg i still dont know where it is on the map.

On Friday we were supposed to complete the 'resolutions' for our countries and hand them in next tue. The people in charge would then choose a couple of them to be debated on later. I actually spent my weekends chionging the darn thing, then only to realise it didn get chosen. Crap lah wasted my time. o wells.

Wed and thu was spent debating on certain problems the world is currently facing, such as the situation of food and biofuels, combating land degradation blahblah. I made a dumb move of withdrawing myself as a co-sponsor of Singapore's resolution, seconds before the Chair announced that Singapore's resolution had passed. Received a note from Panama, which said something like, 'U joke!' =(

O-level oral was on thursday. Am i so glad and relieved its over and done with! Now that ive completed like 1/3 of the o-level exam, its time to kick back and relax the next few days. Oh my goodness it was dam traumatising. It was held in a freezing audi called audi 1 and we sat according to our group no. Mine was 198D i think, where two angry (and hungry?) looking examiners awaited me. I was freezing all over, and I had the feeling that it wasnt entirely because of the cold. So while I was all jittery and nervous and cold, Amos was reading a 'Dead Famous' English book, Beaurhys and the China scholars were sleeping. ><

No snores, however, strangely enough.

When it was my turn to embarass myself, the first thing I asked one of the teachers of my school, who was holding a stopwatch in his hand, was 'Can I have some water?' Of course he said no. Then i found out to my horror that the conversation topic was unseen! I tried to remind myself not to panic, and to just concentrate and think about what to say (and what not to say), but my mind refused to cooperate with me in this kinda important part of my life and was yeah, pretty much driving me nuts and peanuts and walnuts.

It was 6mins of terror + lots of stammering + flicking the sheet of paper in anxiety + forgetting to look at the other examiner + hating myself not to have drank some water before this.

But at least its over. In fact, it wasnt too bad an attempt to sound pro. Good job yj!

Mr dave tay called me up later that day, just to ask whether I was feeling better. I remember complaining to him right after my oral about my nerves and dry throat and spooky examiners. Thanks so much u rock sir.

Okay, time to ting bi.

Wednesday, July 9, 2008,8:40 AM

O-LEVEL ORAL TML!!!! AHH.

Sunday, July 6, 2008,7:38 AM

You know, i try to make it a point to post on the 1st of every month, but as you can see, this latest post is dated what, june the 6th and the post before this, june 30th. In other words, i missed july the 1st. Not that i can help it anyways, my com broke down and i had to endure 120 com-less hours. Stress stress stress. Omg, im so glad those days are over. My com just had to black out on july the 1st.

Lol.

Went to hcjc for a concert with daniel han yesterday, july the 5th. 'Inspire' the ticket said.
A few things to remember that night:

1) Lame emcees.
Example: Hcjc dance crew item just ended. it was hip-hop and very upbeat. the male emcee tried to be funny and said,
'that was so hot.. and sweaty! Just... just like a tennis game!'

2) the whole audience fell in love . It was just what we needed to stay awake. the concert was shifting a little to the boring side and then all of a sudden, 10- 15 little ballet dancers, definitely 5yrs old and below took the stage and won the love of the audience with their cute faces and 'free-for alls'.

3) Watch your language buddy! Stella's story's (a rock band) attempt to end the night with a bang kinda failed. When the 3rd song ended, the lead singer explained to us that the pedal on the bass drum came off, which was why the music sounded like crap. He shook his head, turned to his partner and said,

'F*ck man.' Haha oops. Then his partner told him that there were like 200 pairs of eyes watching him and he felt dam paiseh.

O-level chinese is coming. I know im dead, but i'll do my best to stay alive.

Right. That is all.
